So, in the health care bill, there is a penalty for businesses with a payroll over $400,000 who do not offer health care insurance. If you are a business owner, and you can't afford to do this, what is the solution to this problem? Why, cut your payroll so it's under the magic number! And how do you do that? By shedding employees! Reducing pay! And not hiring over the magic number! And what does that mean for the growth of small business? Growth? What growth? They will be stuck in a vicious cycle where it is too expensive to expand. Wages will stagnate. When inflation kicks in from all the extra monopoly money in circulation, this will be a financial disaster for everyone but the very rich.
And which areas will be the hardest hit? Anyplace where the cost of living is high, and therefore the wages are higher. Small businesses will be able to keep smaller numbers of employees. And if the business is portable (as mine was), you can kiss them good bye as they head for greener pastures (as I did).
If the powers that be think that this won't affect the economy's climb out of a recession, they are going to be extremely surprised by the immediate negative effects. If an econo-ignoramus like me can see this clearly, what does that say for the intelligence of the Democrats? Not only that, but they have the industry-killing, inflation-causing cap and tax bill and raising taxes on small business (or as they call it, "the rich") on the table. How stupid are they? I think you can answer that question yourselves.
